Pelosi and Reid Plot Secret Plan to Pass ObamaCare

Highly informed sources on Capitol Hill have revealed to me details of the Democratic plan to sneak Obamacare through Congress, despite collapsing public approval for healthcare “reform†and disintegrating congressional support in the wake of Republican Scott Brown’s victory in Massachusetts.
President Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid all have agreed to the basic framework of the plan.
Their plan is clever but can be stopped if opponents of radical healthcare reform act quickly and focus on a core group of 23 Democratic Congressman. If just a few of these 23 Democrats are “flipped†and decide to oppose the bill, the whole Obama-Pelosi-Reid stratagem falls apart.
Here’s what I learned top Democrats are planning to implement.
Senate Democrats will go to the House with a two-part deal.
First, the House will pass the Senate’s Obamacare bill that passed the Senate in December. The House leadership will vote on the Senate bill, and Pelosi will allow no amendments or modifications to the Senate bill.
How will Pelosi’s deal fly with rambunctious liberal members of her majority who don’t like the Senate bill, especially its failure to include a public option, put heavy fines on those who don’t get insurance, and offering no income tax surcharge on the “rich�
That’s where the second part of the Pelosi-deal comes in.
Behind closed doors, Reid and Pelosi have agreed in principle that changes to the Senate bill will be made to satisfy liberal House members — but only after the Senate bill is passed and signed into law by Obama.
This deal will be secured by a pledge from Reid and the Senate’s Democratic caucus that they will make “fixes†to the Senate bill after it becomes law with Obama’s John Hancock.
But you may ask what about the fact that, without Republican Scott Brown and independent Democrats such as Joe Lieberman, Reid simply doesn’t have the 60 votes in the Senate to overcome a Republican filibuster that typically can stop major legislation?
According to my source, Reid will provide to Pelosi a letter signed by 52 Democratic senators indicating they will pass the major changes, or “fixes,†the House Democrats are demanding. Again, these fixes will be approved by the Senate only after Obama signs the Senate bill into law.
Reid also has agreed to bypass Senate cloture and filibuster rules and claim that these modifications fall under “reconciliation†and don’t require 60 Senate votes.
To pass the fixes, he won’t need one Republican; he won’t even need Joe Lieberman or wavering Democrats such as Jim Webb of Virginia.
His 52 pledged senators give him a simple majority to pass any changes they want, which will later be rubberstamped by Pelosi’s House and signed by Obama.
This plan, of course, is a total subversion of the legislative process.
Typically, the Senate and House pass their own unique legislation and then both bills go to a conference committee. In conference, the leadership of both Democrat-dominated houses wheels and deals and irons out differences.
The final compromise bill is then sent back to the full Senate and full House for a vote and has to pass both to go to the president.
In the House, a simple majority passes the legislation. But under Senate rules, major legislation requires 60 votes to end a filibuster.
As it stands, the House bill and Senate bill have major discrepancies. Reid does not have 60 votes to pass a compromise bill that would no doubt include some of the radical provisions House members have been demanding.
But if the House passes the exact Senate bill that passed by a 60-39 Senate vote last month, there is no need for a conference on the bill. It will go directly to the president’s desk.
There is a rub to all of this.
This secret plan being hatched by Pelosi and Reid requires not only a pledge by 52 Democratic senators to vote later for the House modifications. House liberals must actually believe these Senators will live up to their pledge and pass the fixes at some future date.

If the Democrats go thru with this underhanded method of passing this bill then every Democratic seat will be in jeopardy in November. Guarantee, Reid will be done anyway due to his corruptness of the way he handled the Republicans with taking his task behind closed locked doors. Sure, I won’t have any health care choices because I’m out of work, cannot find work (I’ve been looking and the job market is vicious out there.) and my health insurance will be going by the way side on April 1, 2010. I have voted Republican since I could vote in my first election and I’m 50 now, so let me tell you there are many Republicans in office and running as candidates that just do not get it. We are currently spending 15% of our gross national product on health care and it is continually rising. Other capitalist countries that have health care systems are spending much less, and they cover most all of their populations. If we truly are the United States of America, we can do much better. Let’s call on all Republicans and all Americans to support Health Care reform and the Health Care Bill that President Obama is supporting. Let’s do the right thing.

It is a shame that OB did not want to see us gain jobs and help the economy recover. All he needed to do was lower all corp. taxes, taxes for the families to about 20% and all of us would be working and R&D would be thriving.

In case you haven’t noticed they are robbing us blind in Washington (bankster bail out, cap and trade, auto industry bail outs), and the healthcare bill written by the insurance industry is another bail-out only this time it’s for the insurance companies. The insurance industry who wrote the bill put up this fake opposition when in reality they can’t wait for it to pass so they can start the raping.
Do you want to be told when to die, or if your young enough for the treatments that they won’t waste on the elderly? Do you want a fake choice of doctor? How will the bill be changed after it’s passed into law?
The answer is: “It can’t.”

Ive had 8 back sureries, 1 sloulder sugery , 3 wrist sugeries & 1/2 of my big toes cut off,plus many other minor problems and I am having a hard time to get pain meds. Who are ther for, I can function 1/2 way decent with enough but am having a very hard time to get any. WHAT AM I SUPOSSED TO DO? I get $756 per month and cannot work

I realize Health Care in this country is TERRIBLE (THAT IS BEING POLITE), however, being an RD, and my spouse a medical professional as well, we witness it every day from both ends, patient and provider. Our system is too complicated for either, controlled by insurance companies and lawyers, not by providers and the needs of the patient.
We need competition in insurance companies (across the state lines), we need tort reform to prevent unnecessary lawsuits, and coverage for PREVENTATIVE services, which would cut COSTS (even though insurance companies DON’T want this, since that is how they get paid! There is a better way, but the Congress needs to form a committee with RELIABLE, HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS to make recommendations; not a selected CHOSEN by politicians!

I really have to wonder if the people supporting, or even questioning the “Health Care Reform Bill” have bothered to do any research on the matter.
When government starts controlling and capping doctor’s salaries, who will go through 9 years of school to make $80,000 or so a year? Won’t this eventually create a shortage of doctors, as it has in the UK and Canada?
Do people that have significat health issues really want to wait 4 months for an MRI, just to be told they do not meet the criteria for treatment, as they do in many socialistic/commumistic countries (as well as written into this plan)?
When their mother or father falls ill and are no longer able to care for themselves, do they want them put in an institution for the mentally unstable? Possibly for as long as for 3 years, until a bed opens up in a nursing home trained to deal with their needs, as my friend’s father has had to endure in the UK?
Have they bothered to check the financial status of the United States Post Office? Social Security? GM (who now needs ANOTHER bail out)? Myself, I’m really not comfortable putting my personal health care in the hands of the same people
who can’t manage the systems already in place.
Speaking as a person who also has many health issues (13 surgeries and several on going conditions over the past 15 years) and is continually, financially strapped due to medical bills. I KNOW that I need my private health care insurance if I have any hope of ever living a normal life.
DO THE RESEARCH, stand together and don’t let this pass!!
Why is every one questioning this? Our new Government, the Powere Elite will take care of you, they will take care of everything, whether you want them to or not. God help us all. Sorry but this is reconciliation. To reconcile. This is exactly what is intended to bring together differences in the house and senate bills. This is nothing new and is not some big secret plan to push through a bill. Minor changes will be made perhaps to the bills but the overall intent of the bills would remain intact. Both bills have already passed the house and senate and if the house were to sign the senate bill it would become the law of the land. Everyone will know what is going to happen and when so I see no big plot here. Leaders of congress always discuss out of public view issues and as long as they bring them to the public view before proceeding then there is no plot. Majority rule rules in this country and if these bills become law this way then its fine with me.
