About

There is no question that America needs health care reform. The problem is that President Obama and his colleagues in Congress are going about it in the wrong way.  Their so-called “reforms” amount to a government takeover of our health care system.   Experiences in countries like Canada and Britian show that government-run health care leads to higher cost, lower quality, and reduced access.

The current House health care reform bill (HR3200) is modeled after the failed nationalized health care programs of countries like Canada and Britain.  This legislation will (amongst other things):

  • Ration care (pages 29, 85, 800).
  • Drive people to the ‘government option’ (pages 72, 84-85, 265, 341, more).
  • Dramatically increase costs and taxes (CBO estimates over $1 trillion in additional costs).
  • Impose restrictions on how doctors practice medicine (pages 253,280, 289, 335-339, more).
  • Provide government direct access to your personal bank account (page 59).
  • Pressure elderly and seriously ill to forego life-extending care (pages 425-430).
  • Establish a government database that includes your private, personal medical history (page 503).
  • Enable the government to come into homes and usurp parental rights (Page 838).
  • Work to systematically “increase birth intervals between pregnancies,” opening the very real possibility of forced, tax-payer funded abortions (page 768).

Real Reform Must be Based Upon American Principles

  • Choice: the ability to choose my own plan, doctors, facilities and treatments.
  • Access: the ability to get the treatment I need, when I need it, without delay or denial of service.
  • Cost Reduction: meaningful reductions in the cost of my insurance and medical care.
  • Fairness: individuals who purchase their own insurance should receive the same tax savings as those who obtain insurance through their employers.
  • Deficit Neutral: no increase in our national debt.
  • Personal Responsibility: people must take responsibility for managing their health and those who make unhealthy lifestyle decisions should pay more.
  • Limited Government: government intrusion is a major contributor to runaway health care costs and therefore reform should seek to reduce, not expand, the role of government in the health care industry.
  • Portability: I should be able to take my insurance with me when I change jobs.
  • Privacy: government should not have access to my private medical information.

Exampes of Common-Sense Health Care Reform Measures

  • Health Care ReformExpand competition by repealing government restrictions that prevent insurance companies from offering plans across state lines.
  • Equalize tax laws so employer-provided and individually-owned health insurance have the same tax benefits.
  • Eliminate government mandates that drive-up the cost of insurance for all people.
  • Enact tort reform to end frivolous lawsuits that force doctors to pay astronomical insurance costs and prescribe unnecessary treatments to avoid lawsuits.
  • Expand Health Savings Accounts coupled with high-deductible health plans to increase price transparency and create true competition by putting consumers’ in-charge of spending their own health care dollars.
  • Improve purchasing power by allowing individuals and small employers to form purchasing pools across state lines.
  • Increase price transparency so consumers can understand the true costs of their health care and shop for the best price.
  • Reform Medicare to increase compensation, end the cost-shifted hidden tax and undo the broken Ponzi scheme that funds it.
  • Offer subsidized private insurance to the poor instead of massive government-directed bureaucracies.
  • Provide incentives for healthy lifestyle choices so that individuals will take responsibility for managing their own health.
  • Require proof of citizenship for all individuals that receive taxpayer-subsidized coverage.
  • Require members of Congress to adopt the same health plan that they impose on the American people.

Excellent information! As a retired RN who spent a lifetime working with teen pregnancies, high-risk moms and babies, and NICU babies, I have gotten tired, but I still try to do what I can. This health care reform is an abomination; we need to help all Americans see it for what it really is, BEFORE it’s too late! Your site is wonderful, and says it like it is, as well as presenting actual workable alternatives. Thanks for all your hard work; keep up the good fight, and God bless us all and our great country!

Please know that I did not ask to have this site removed for any reason except that I just moved to Fargo; who is the best congress person to contact on “this side of the river?”

Our CURRENT health insurance system is an abomination. Between premiums, deductibles, and copays, my family pays over $14,000 a year for private health insurance — on top of what our employers also pay! For this, we get constant nickel-and-diming when we submit a claim and interference from the insurance company in the doctor-patient relationship. We can’t switch to another insurer because of pre-existing conditions. I would gladly accept a tax increase to pay for a government-run health insurance option to get out from under the current system. It would save us money and make our US businesses more competitive.

Our daughter lived in Canada for two years and could see a doctor anytime she wanted to for no or minimal charge. They even covered her for emergency room treatment when she was in the US. No “death panels”, government interference, or rationing. When is the US going to join the civilized world?

I do not particularly agree with your petition at all….. I think obama AND the US Govt should stay out of our health-care business as well as ANY business ALL TOGETHER! never-mind demanding certain principles with this petition! I like what you have to say.. BUT I am not going to sign something that basically states there will be reform. I want obama and his Marxist thugs out of our lives all together! He has proven time and time again that he has broken his oath as our commander in chief! Thus I demand he be IMPEACHED! Never mind this health-care debacle!!! Thank you! and GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
