Between premiums, deductibles, and copays, my family pays over $14,000 a year for private health insurance -- on top of what our employers also pay! For this, we get constant nickel-and-diming when we submit a claim and interference from the insurance company in the doctor-patient relationship. We can't switch to another insurer because of pre-existing conditions. I would gladly accept a tax increase to pay for a government-run health insurance option to get out from under the current system. It would save us money and make our US businesses more competitive. Our daughter lived in Canada for two years and could see a doctor anytime she wanted to for no or minimal charge. They even covered her for emergency room treatment when she was in the US. No "death panels", government interference, or rationing. When is the US going to join the civilized world? Our CURRENT health insurance system is an abomination.
